Parenting Outside Heteronormativity

If you’re a Counsellor, Therapist or Mental Health Professional who works with GSRD clients, developing the depth of knowledge to practice affirmatively with parenting issues is an essential aspect of your skill set. Despite the rise in publicly acknowledged same-sex households over the last 50 years, people parenting outside dominant heteronormative practices remain challenged by a history of social stigmatisation and heteronormative assumptions about their motivations, family configurations and the development and well-being of their children.

Pink Therapy’s Parenting Outside Heteronormativity online-learning CPD module offers you the opportunity to learn more about parenting outside of heteronormative discourses, including research with and experiences of sexual and gender minority parents, polyamorous families and parents engaging in kink so that you can adopt a flexible model of working that offers LGBTQ parents and their children a safe, welcoming therapeutic space that meets their diverse needs.

If you select ‘Self study materials only’ you will receive the information for personal learning but won’t need to submit an assignment. If you select ‘Submit an assignment for Certificate Of Study’ you will submit an assignment that will be marked by one of our Faculty. If you pass the assignment, you’ll be issued with a Certificate Of Study from Pink Therapy for 15 hours of online learning. If you don’t pass, you will be given an opportunity to resubmit.
